After closing earlier this year, the beloved contemporary art museum has returned to the Paris scene with an expansive new home.

Though it spent years in a glass-fronted structure in the 14th arrondissement, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain has moved to a historic space in the 1st arrondissement, right across from the Louvre. Since the building was constructed in 1855, it has operated as a luxurious hotel, a retail space with art exhibitions and grand displays, and a home for art galleries and antique shops. Now, with reimagined architecture&mdash;courtesy of Jean Nouvel&mdash;the legendary space is stepping into a new era.&nbsp;
Contemporary, airy, and striking, the building brings the museum's mission to life, offering an experiential venue to be transformed by the works of art within each gallery. The new space also includes a bookstore and an auditorium for lectures and special events.&nbsp;

The Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain's very first presentation&mdash;beginning its opening weekend&mdash;in its new space is dedicated to all of the artists and movements that have been a part of the museum's history.&nbsp;&nbsp;
