She and Lanthimos have a long-standing relationship, as she took home her latest Oscar for her role in his 2023 film, Poor Things. The director's gripping and uncanny stories and characters are the ultimate test for any actor, and Stone has proven time and time again that she is up for the challenge.
Shaving her head was no easy feat for the actor, as she allegedly cried in her trailer before the shot, as it brought up the emotions from when her mother had breast cancer. "She actually did something brave. Fans will be able to watch the dramatic transformation this fall, as Bugonia&nbsp;hits theatres on October 24. Natalie Portman shaved her head during a harrowing scene in the 2005 film&nbsp;V for Vendetta. In the movie, her character Evey Hammond gets imprisoned and tortured, and within that experience, her hair is shaved off on-screen. The actress mentioned in a 2006 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYWmwIBnQTc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> that shaving her head wasn't torturous at all, and if anything, it was "wonderful to throw vanity away for a little bit."&nbsp;

Charlize Theron shaved her head for her role in Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015. The actress played the one-armed warrior, Imperator Furiosa, and to portray the tough character, she shaved her head. In an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6E6OUqCPAw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">W Magazine</a>, Theron admitted that it was her idea to buzz her hair off for the role. She said, "I just picked up the phone and called George (director, George Miller) and said we've been trying to come up with this visual, and I think I just need to shave my head." She continued by admitting how fun it was to shower with a bald head.

<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/florence-pugh-sheer-naked-dress-thunderbolts-box-office" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florence Pugh</a> took the leap by shaving her head for her role in the 2024 film,&nbsp;We Live in Time. In the movie, her character Almut gets diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and gets her head on camera by her co-star, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/who-is-monica-barbaro-andrew-garfield-girlfriend-wimbledon-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andrew Garfield</a>. Pugh divulged in an interview with <a href="https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/florence-pugh-british-vogue-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">British Vogue</a> that the experience of getting her head shaved was "bizarre" and left her body in a bit of "trauma" afterwards, as her body was cold all the time. Though she also admitted that going through with the act was a "no-brainer" to transform into her character for the film.

Long before <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/who-is-scout-larue-willis-surprising-facts-demi-moore-daughter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Demi Moore's</a> jaw-dropping transformation in&nbsp;The Substance,&nbsp;the actress went to extremes for her role in the 1997 film, G.I. Jane. Moore played Lieutenant Jordan O&rsquo;Neil, who wears her hair shaved for her job in the U.S. Navy. The film follows her as the first woman to go through the U.S. Navy Special Warfare Group training. Her character's head was shaved to underscore her commitment to the Navy, but it also set the record early on that Moore would go to serious lengths for her job.&nbsp;

In the 2018 movie&nbsp;Nappily Ever After, Sanaa Lathan's character, Violet Jones, liberates herself from societal beauty standards by shaving her head on screen. Lathan admitted during an interview on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDvI5ekzG7o" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Live with Kelly and Mark</a>&nbsp;that she was in denial before shaving her hair off for the project. But she overcame her anxiety, saying, "The more I did research into the movie and the character, I was like, I can't not do it."

Kristen Stewart was admittedly excited when she got the chance to shave her head for the 2020 film, Underwater. She explained in a 2017 interview on the <a href="https://www.today.com/style/kristen-stewart-reveals-why-she-shaved-her-head-it-s-t109064" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Today</a> show that for her, the decision felt "practical," and that shaving her head was something she had always wanted to do. Not only did Stewart shave her hair off, but she also bleached it blonde, rocking a striking look both on and off screen.
