The glitz and glamour of award shows are nothing without the help of makeup artists. They use their talents to create beautiful looks to fit in with the latest beauty trends. For the 2022 Oscars, Hollywood's stars brought back classic trends such as a red lip, intricate updos, and sharp cat-eye looks to make their red carpet debuts.

Jessica Chastain, Zendaya, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Billie Eilish, and Lily James were some of the stars to rock these amazing looks. Check out L'OFFICIEL's top five beauty trends from the 2022 Oscars.

Intricate Updo

There's nothing more regal than a traditional updo to accentuate a gorgeous gown. Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Demi Singleton, and first-time Oscar award winner Chastain all opted for different variations of the classy updo that reigned the supreme hairstyle in previous years.

Zendaya kept her curls stylishly brushed back while Nyong'o, Singleton, and Chastain went for a slicked-back look.

Classic Red Lip

It goes without saying that a red lip is never a bad move. After all, it's a classic for a reason. Tracee Ellis Ross and Kidman took part in the trend, decorating their lips with a strong vermilion shade that made a statement of its own.

Ross chose to match her lipstick to the color of her dress, while Kidman used hers to contrast the pastel blue color of her outfit.

Side-Swept Hair

Although it hasn't been popular in recent years, side-swept hairstyles are making a comeback. Kristen Stewart and Penélope Cruz lead the side-swept regime at the award show. Their neat yet shaggy hairstyles added a touch of effortless class to their formal and elegant outfits.

Stewart opted for a messier look to match her unconventional award show fit, while Cruz stayed with a more tamed version of the trend.

Barely-There Makeup

Think of barely-there makeup as a first cousin to no-makeup-makeup. It's not quite nothing, but more of a subtle pop of makeup on a well-prepped canvas. Eilish, James, and Jessie Buckley all went for a "less is more" approach to draw more attention to their hair and outfits. Eilish and Buckley chose to keep their makeup on the more natural side, while James pulled focus to her eyes with hints of shimmer and pops of color.

Cat-Eye Liner

Cat-eye liner is a beauty trend that is here to stay. Favored by actresses with angular features such as Kravitz and Vanessa Hudgens, the liner adds a sharper, more defined look to an already piercing complexion.

Both stars also opted for a neat updo and gowns that bared their clavicle and shoulders to add to that Catwoman-esque allure they both naturally possess.
