La Prairie's Caviar Collection is the bread and butter of the luxury brand's skincare offerings, ranging from its eye cream that retails for nearly $450 or moisturizer that can cost over $1,000 in its signature, cobalt-blue glass pot. The Swiss skincare label's serum is another favorite among skincare enthusiasts with a budget and keen eye for lavish innovation. The formula, which originally debuted in 2012, just got a makeover.

The refreshed version of Skin Caviar Liquid Lift will be available to shop starting January 13. It boasts a refined ingredient list that still uses the brand's proprietary ingredients like include caviar oils and proteins that strengthen and firm up the skin. The reimagined serum mimics the older formula in that it has a milky color and texture that sinks into the skin, leaving a subtle glow and gentle fragrance behind. However, the upgraded version incorporates a new blend of over 300 nutrients, according to the press release, which help support the skin's barrier, collagen production, and stress defense mechanisms. It also has hyaluronic acid to help lock in moisture.

“Caviar Micro-Nutrients is our latest caviar active ingredient and a first in the sense that it has been obtained by a proprietary biological transformation process, going beyond the extraction processes used for our other caviar derivatives," Dr. Jacqueline Hill, director of strategic innovation and science at La Prairie, explained in a press release. In other words, the new formula doesn't just include ingredients that have been extracted from caviar. Those ingredients underwent further enhancements, too.

The serum's best features are not just that it can moisturize the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. It's championed for its ability to make skin look more lifted and supple. According to Dr. Hill in the press release, over an eight week period of application, those testing it noticed a jawline lift up to a centimeter thanks to its ability to create the appearance of tightened skin. This is what has made the serum such a long-lasting item in beauty cabinets: it has the ability to noticeably and visibly transform the skin without the need for anything invasive.

The Zurich-based company's new Skin Caviar Liquid Lift will be available to shop for $785 (the 50 milliliter size), marking no price change from the old formula, sold on the brand's website and through luxury retailers, including Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks, and Bergdorf Goodman.
