If you&rsquo;ve been following the brand for a while, or simply consider yourself a beauty obsessive, you&rsquo;ll notice something different immediately: smaller palettes are new for Patrick Ta. Traditionally, the brand&rsquo;s Major Dimension palettes featured 12 shades, including two creams and a mix of shimmers (with the exception of the all-matte edition). The new Essential Artistry Edit Eyeshadow Palettes, however, include just six matte powder shades&mdash;and that&rsquo;s entirely by design.&nbsp;
For founder and longtime celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta, the goal was to streamline the experience and eliminate the clutter of shades you&rsquo;ll never actually use.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&ldquo;It was about stripping things down to only what&rsquo;s truly necessary. I wanted to create a palette where every shade has a purpose&mdash;whether it&rsquo;s sculpting, defining, or softly enhancing,&rdquo; Ta tells L&rsquo;OFFICIEL.&nbsp;

Think of it like finding your perfect foundation match. Patrick Ta&rsquo;s new palettes come in three iterations&mdash;Light, Medium, and Deep&mdash;each curated to complement a range of skin tones with universally wearable matte shades.
&ldquo;These palettes were inspired by what I use most in my kit, and for me, matte eyeshadows are the foundation of any eye look I create,&rdquo; Ta added. &ldquo;Eyeshadow can be intimidating. I&rsquo;ve been testing Patrick Ta&rsquo;s new eyeshadow palettes for a week, and I have to say that the pigment puts all those dry and chalky eyeshadows (that surprisingly still exist) to shame. As a beauty writer and longtime makeup wearer, I&rsquo;ve seen my fair share of product pitfalls. And yes, there are plenty of palettes out there with impressive color payoff and staying power.&nbsp;
What makes Patrick Ta&rsquo;s eyeshadow palettes so different from the rest, however, is texture: a distinctly buttery pigment with the perfect balance of blendability, buildability, and control. Many brands achieve that same creamy feel, but often at the expense of performance&mdash;too buttery, and you end up with fallout, creasing, and mess. I&rsquo;ve always loved the Rose Edition of the Major Dimension Eyeshadow Palette, but with my less-than-pro eyeshadow skills, I rarely reached for it.&nbsp;
These new, edited palettes, on the other hand, deliver that same buttery formula but in a version more approachable for novices. The tones, seemingly inspired by real skin, were really designed to enhance, not mask your features. It&rsquo;s like contouring for the eyes: lighter shades to create a clean base, mid-tones to sculpt and transition, and deeper hues to define the outer corner or double as eyeliner. One night out, I used the darkest shade with an angled brush in place of liner, then added a hint of shimmer in the middle of my lids for an extra zhuzh.&nbsp;
Even with my notoriously oily eyelids, the shadows held up impressively: no creasing after eight hours during the daytime. On a girls&rsquo; night out, I saw a bit of smudging, but that&rsquo;s par for the course considering (a) I always forget setting spray, and (b) dancing and humidity are a test for even the best formulas. Regardless, Patrick Ta delivered a palette with that clear vision: one you&rsquo;ll always reach for, whether daytime or nighttime.

If there&rsquo;s one thing these new Patrick Ta eyeshadow palettes taught me, it&rsquo;s that all it takes to fake a pro-level look doesn&rsquo;t require complicated shades&mdash;just a few essentials, a fluffy brush for blending, and a smaller, denser brush to define the lash line.&nbsp;
True enough to Ta&rsquo;s philosophy, makeup can be easy with the right tools and techniques.&nbsp;
