Pieter Mulier's debut collection with the house for Spring 2022 presents a tribute to Azzedine Ala&iuml;a.

In the historic address on Rue de Moussy in Paris,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/pieter-mulier-new-creative-director-azzedine-alaia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pieter Mulier</a> presented his first collection as the Creative Director of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/designers-azzedine-alaia-cristobal-balenciaga-museum-exhibition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ala&iuml;a</a> with the new Spring 2022 formula. Mulier met <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/azzedine-alaia-peter-lindbergh-exhibition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Azzedine Ala&iuml;a</a> only once, but without the possibility of getting to know each other properly. Today, the new head of the brand celebrates the late couturier's career with his debut at Paris Fashion Week. 
"This collection is intended as a thank you gift. To express my sincere respect and recognition for the work you have done. Four years after your final presentation, today, July 4th, I feel honored to present this collection," says Mulier in a letter to Ala&iuml;a left on each seat of the catwalk. "I tried to be faithful to your creative approach. I also tried to enter your mind...but it's impossible. I have so many questions. So many things I imagine. You: passionate, stubborn, charming. You who have drawn beauty more than fashion, as you like to say. Thank you, Azzedine, for your audacity that helps me today to take note of creation. Thank you for your unrivaled adulation of the female figure. You were a sculptor, a genius of the hand."

The clothes presented the authentic stylistic code of the founder. A dip in the '80s and '90s, without stylistic constraints and without effort, maintaining the respect for the study of shapes and the female body that has always distinguished the French Maison. Among the guests at the show, a place was reserved for <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/cartier-most-famous-designs-monica-bellucci-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Monica Bellucci</a> as well as the model and director <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/farida-khelfa-interview-jean-paul-goude" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Farida Khelfa</a>, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/valentino-haute-couture-spring-summer-2021-pierpaolo-piccioli-robert-del-naja" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pierpaolo Piccioli</a>, and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/raf-simons-fred-perry-collection-spring-summer-2021-photos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Raf Simons</a> with whom Mulier had worked in the past. At the end of the show, the spectators stood in standing ovations to demonstrate enormous recognition of the tribute to Ala&iuml;a and Mulier's debut collection.
"I will take care of your Maison and your family with a huge sense of admiration and responsibility. Building the future of this legendary house is a great dream come true," Mulier said.
