For his second ready-to-wear line for the label, Matthieu Blazy presented a range of utterly fantastical takes on classic Chanel-isms.&nbsp;

Since <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/chanel-spring-summer-2026-collection-runway-images-matthieu-blazy-debut" target="_blank" rel="noopener">debuting his first collection for the label</a> last year, creative director <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/chanel-new-creative-director-matthieu-blazy-details" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matthieu Blazy</a> has become the fashion set's de facto darling &mdash;a new position that Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026 has cemented in place.
In case you missed it last week, Chanel's Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Blazy's first for the label, launched exclusively in Paris, just in time for the spell of warm sunny weather in the world's leading fashion capitals. At the label's iconic Rue Cambon flagship boutique in Paris, hordes of fashion fans&mdash;editors, models, and mainstream celebrities included&mdash;waited to snag a piece or two from the new line with a fervor often reserved for once-in-a-lifetime sample sales and one-of-one releases. To many, the craze was a brief, albeit amusing viral moment, but for the industry at large, the interest signals something deeper&mdash;a serious Chanel renaissance in the works.
Just days after the Rue Cambon scene, Blazy unveiled Chanel's Fall/Winter 2026 collection at the Grand Palais. Surrounded by massive, multicolored cranes and set atop a sparkling, space gray floor&mdash;an ode to last season's stunning cosmos-inspired backdrop, perhaps&mdash;the show began, as a throng of enthralled editors, buyers, and friends of the house watched on from all angles. Per the designer's show notes and pre-presentation musings, the array of pieces presented wasn't your average compilation of clothes for the Chanel woman&mdash;it was a collection guided by <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/gabrielle-chanel-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mademoisselle Chanel</a>'s own sartorial sensibilities.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Fashion is both caterpillar and butterfly. Be a caterpillar by day and a butterfly by night," said the designer backstage, quoting the founder, who uttered the same words back in the '50s. "There is nothing more comfortable than a caterpillar and nothing more made for love than a butterfly. We need dresses that crawl and dresses that fly. The butterfly doesn&rsquo;t go to the market, and the caterpillar doesn&rsquo;t go to the ball.&rdquo;
As one glance at the Fall/Winter 2026 pieces reveals, Blazy took this butterfly and caterpillar notion to task. Spanning morning, noon, and night, the collection sees a dalliance with dependable workwear-inspired looks, suited silhouettes, and billowing, romantic gowns alike. Built on the foundation of the classic Chanel suit, the collection toyed with layering, texture, and convention. Materials making up the collection weren't just contained to tweed&mdash;they spanned across sumptuous silk, lace, precious metals, fluff, feathers, and more.&nbsp;
