Matthew M. Williams brings his recipe for contemporary fashion to the catwalk: 2000s style with hints of traditional French codes.

The Givenchy Spring/Summer 2023 show was&nbsp;a dialogue between today's <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/ready-to-wear-again" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Y2K revival</a> and the archetypes of the Givenchy aesthetic created by <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/matthew-williams-givenchy-alyx-lady-gaga-kanye-west" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matthew M. Williams</a>, with a hint of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/audrey-hepburn-givenchy-little-black-dress-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hubert de Givenchy</a>. The link between utility and luxury is stronger in this essential collection with a more stable color palette compared to other seasons: hints of red, purple, white, cream, lime green, and the inevitable black. The hooded sweatshirt comes out of an oversized boucl&eacute; jacket, all combined with baggy five-pocket Bermuda shorts and ankle-fastening decoll&egrave;t&eacute;.
According to Givenchy, the new eveningwear uniform consists of miniskirts, a trail of silk dresses with and without slits, micro-pleats adorned with stones or feather ends, nets decorated with pearls over slip dresses, and long dresses punched in the center with built-in gloves. There was also space for denim which, with a worn effect, Williams presents in tandem with extra long jackets, leather bras, and tuxedo jackets.
Taking a note from a more current fall trend, the silk <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/bomber-jacket-style-inspiration-bella-hadid-fall-fashion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bomber jacket</a> made an appearance as the new office uniform combined with long trousers in the same fabric, while the trench coat emerged as its own blouse to be worn with long leather gloves. However, a special mention must be given to the 3D-printed cat-eye <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/sunglasses-trends-fall-winter-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sunglasses</a> and important jewelry moments like ear cuffs and maxi bracelets.
