In a candlelit setting meant to embody the inside of a Catholic church, Versace's Spring/Summer 2023 show infused a number of seemingly foreign themes into a single collection that celebrates the modern Versace woman.

Clearly influenced by the recent pop-punk resurgence and the inevitable grunge revival on the horizon, Donatella Versace ventured away from the array of vibrant ensembles of past collections, instead opting for pinks, purples, black, with the occasional neon yellow thrown into the mix.

Whether designed as an homage to punk princesses everywhere or inspired by Gen Z's dueling emo and Barbiecore trends of the 2000s, Versace subverts stereotypes by fusing grunge elements with more feminine motifs like jeweled embellishments, cupped bustiers, and lace trim. And for the finale, fashion's own Y2K rebel princess Paris Hilton walked the runway in the full-pink final look.
