Miu Miu Explores Identity and Truth for Spring/Summer 2025
The house examined truth, identity, and misinformation in its Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week was a multidimensional journey into the brand’s ongoing exploration of vanity, truth, and the way women view themselves. With Miuccia Prada at the helm, the collection felt like the culmination of years of creative collaboration across art, cinema, and fashion.
This season, Miu Miu collaborated with artist Goshka Macuga, who transformed the runway experience into a thematic examination of misinformation and manipulation. Macuga’s intervention, including a symbolic newspaper titled "The Truthless Times," challenged the concept of truth itself. The audience sat among representations of printing presses.
White cotton dresses, inspired by archetypal youth wardrobes, became canvases for Miu Miu’s reinterpretation, reimagined for different ages and perspectives. Classic items were twisted—literally. Sweaters were worn as tops, and shirts were tied and folded in unconventional ways, highlighting the play between utilitarian forms and a subversive touch of glamour.
One of the key elements of the collection was the manipulation of materials. Pieces that appeared to be silk were actually nylon, while other items blurred the line between utility and luxury. Miu Miu managed to strike a balance between hyper-classic silhouettes and a more experimental, transgressive edge. The collection maintained the brand’s signature aesthetic while pushing its established norms forward into new creative territory.
The cast of models brought the collection to life, each representing a different facet of the Miu Miu woman. Notable figures included Charlotte Cardin, Alexa Chung, Cara Delevingne, and Amelia Gray, as well as actors like Hilary Swank and Willem Dafoe. Their presence on the runway underscored the brand’s emphasis on individuality.
