New York Fashion Week Is Here
The 2019 iteration of New York Fashion Week has finally arrived. It is during this seven-day period, in which style gurus from all over the world flock to the city that never sleeps to take in all the newest trends and designer wares for the coming season.
February 4, 2019 may mark the beginning of the fashion week, but it also signifies something bigger. It’s the opening, the ringing in of this year’s autumn and winter fashion trends. It is also significant to note that this year, both Mens and Womens fashion weeks are combined, adding to the chaos. And we do not want you to miss any of the action.
Usually, people have their schedules organized in advance, but if you are running late, be sure to use the guides provided by NYFW. On their website, you will find a comprehensive list of where and when the designer-dripping-divinities will be located.
The hustle and bustle of fashion week make people forgetful. The (literal) running between shows, posing for photographs, or endless updating of social media distracts from basic tasks such as, well, eating. But, it is important to remember that where you dine throughout the week is sometimes just as important as attending shows. For example, the eatery located on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, L’Avenue, has found a home on the eighth and ninth floors of Saks Fifth Avenue located at 611 Fifth Ave and is opening today. The restaurant serves trendy yet expensive food and is rumored to be a chic spot for people watching during fashion week, according to The New York Times.
What are the big shows? Big things are expected from household designers such as Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors (Feb. 13). But, there are also some first-timers such as Palomo Spain that recently held a show in Paris, but are making their New York debut this week. Also, Tom Ford is breaking new ground by combining male and female models into one show, according to StyleCaster.
