The weather in New York has done a complete 180. Last Thursday, the city's fashion week began in sweltering late-summer heat, but clouds and rain arrived along with the weekend, and they haven't let up since. In the spirit of looking ahead to next year, designers including Brandon Maxwell and Sies Marjan have been brightening the gloomy days with their colorful Spring 2019 collections, and Self-Portrait was no exception to this.

For his show on Saturday, creative director Han Chong melded his signature elegance and structure with sunny inspiration from his recent trip to Ibiza. Shades of orange, yellow and green mixed with textured neutrals, and the florals for spring actually made a groundbreaking statement, as they're a rarity at Self-Portrait. Backstage, photographer Andrew Day captured the makeup, a full Maybelline look which consisted of a natural glow with artful swipes of white eyeliner. From sunbursts to swipes under the brow, the creative application made eyes shine and mimicked Chong's consistent creativity with white lace. Whether more sweltering days are ahead or we're left to dream until next spring, the easy look is refreshing both on and off the runway, bringing an energy New York really needed as fashion people tried not to get soaking wet.
