Since 2011, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/best-moments-highlights-lagos-fashion-week-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lagos Fashion Week</a> has been a highly anticipated fixture on the fashion calendar each year, drawing editors, fashion fiends, artists, and celebrities from across the world to attend the week's buzziest shows.&nbsp;
Beyond spotlighting the industry's leading Nigerian designers, Lagos Fashion Week also platforms labels from across the continent, showcasing the creative innovation, craftsmanship, and flourishing fashion culture that have continued to shape larger global style movements in recent years.&nbsp;
For the 2025 edition, Lagos Fashion Week played host to over 60 designers, making this year's calendar especially "action-packed," Tenicka Boyd&mdash;one of the Internet's most beloved fashion, beauty, and travel influencers&mdash;tells&nbsp;L'OFFICIEL. All week long, models, designers, and attendees flitted from show to show, in between appearing at a range of programming and panel discussions. "After flying from Mexico City to New York to Atlanta to Lagos, I was running on espresso and vibes," she continues. Despite the packed schedule, Boyd says the crowd was more excited than ever.&nbsp;
Aside from the buzzy presentations and parties, Lagos Fashion Week is also known for its commitment to platforming sustainable fashion practices and continuing to spread the influence of expertly crafted maximalist designs&mdash;some of which draw inspiration from traditional styles.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"Ladymaker is celebrating 10 years, and I can&rsquo;t wait to see what they do next. Imad Eduso is one of the best shows every season," Boyd says, before adding that she was also particularly excited to see the latest collections from Hertunba, LFJ, Rendoll, Desiree Iyama, FSS, FIA, and Orange Culture.
In between attending highly anticipated runway shows and exploring the vibrant streets of Lagos, Boyd shared her style diary and spoke to L'OFFICIEL, detailing the week's best moments, revealing her tried-and-true travel must-haves, and providing insight into the passionate spirit that continues to drive Lagos Fashion Week 15 years after its first edition.&nbsp;

L'OFFICIEL: How did you decide on your looks throughout the week? Were there any styles or pieces that you knew you really wanted to wear?&nbsp;
Tenicka Boyd: Lagos is a city of creativity, chaos, and vibrancy. I wanted every look to show my personal style while keeping the elements of Lagos. While I&rsquo;m a visitor, I wanted to respect the culture by embracing it fully. The Pepper Row set&mdash;a&nbsp;two-piece&nbsp;that was tailored for my body with this ombre fringe moment&mdash;really spoke to me in a way I can&rsquo;t fully explain.&nbsp;
L'O: Given that it was the 15th anniversary of Lagos Fashion Week, what was the energy like this year? What has it been like to see the event grow over time?
TB: The energy in Lagos was infectious. Everyone was so excited to celebrate the anniversary of such an important moment. 
L'O: Every fashion week has a different identity driving it forward&mdash;how would you best describe Lagos Fashion Week?
TB: Lagos Fashion Week is the heart and soul of fashion. It pushes straight through Eurocentric standards of minimalism and wakes you up. There is no color too bright. There is no print too bold. There is no fabric off limits. They make clothes for women who want to be seen. The clothes are truly a work of art.

L'O: What was your favorite part of getting ready to attend runway shows this week?&nbsp;
TB:&nbsp;My favorite part of getting ready had to be the Lagos glam. They do glam like no other. It's really luxurious makeup that starts with incredible skin prep in a city that can be really hot and humid.&nbsp;
L'O: Do you have any specific beauty/skincare products that are must-haves in your beauty routine right now?
TB: I&rsquo;m obsessed with skincare. I use Caudalie Vinoperfect to keep my skin in check, no matter what country I go to. I love the Augustinus Bader oil for nighttime. The Alpyn moisturizer truly works in Switzerland winters and Lagos heat. It comes with me everywhere. I also love to use Topicals eye patches to prep for a full day after a sleepless night.&nbsp;

L'O: As a seasoned traveler, have you discovered any tricks over the years to manage to fit all of your beauty and style must-haves in your luggage?
TB:&nbsp;I always pack my most expensive and sentimental items in my carry-on. I never put things in my checked luggage that I can&rsquo;t part with, because at any time, something could happen. I use packing cubes and roll as much as I can. I&rsquo;m a maximalist who loves her things!
L'O: Did you have any places in Lagos that you were especially excited to see while you visited? Any foods you were eager to eat?
TB: Lagos is known for being an international city where you can access any cuisine, but you really can&rsquo;t come to Lagos without trying suya and jollof. I especially love how smoky and spicy it is.&nbsp;

L'O: Are there any particular aesthetics or trends you&rsquo;re loving (or hating) at the moment? What are you looking forward to seeing from the fashion world in upcoming seasons (including Spring/Summer 2026)?
TB:&nbsp;I want there to be a massive return to glamour. In a world of gloom and doom, I want to see imagination and creativity&mdash;show us the world as it should be.
L'O: Vibrant color is a major part of your wardrobe&mdash;are there any colors or patterns in particular that you&rsquo;re loving this season?
TB: Every season, I love orange&mdash;in all shades. The way sienna or burnt orange looks on my skin tone in the fall just makes me want to get dressed. Also, wearing bright orange in tropical climates makes me feel beautiful.
L'O: What&rsquo;s your philosophy when it comes to style? Is there a specific aesthetic or mindset that guides your outfits, both on a daily basis and for special occasions like this one?
TB:&nbsp;I describe my style as Afro Luxe. Tailored, streamlined, and polished by interesting color and texture. My style is a composite of all the places I&rsquo;ve traveled and all the luxury experiences I&rsquo;ve had. It&rsquo;s a little bit of Harlem, a bit of Kuala Lumpur, a rooftop party in Lagos, a sunny day in Cape Town. I like to feel feminine and free, and I love to wear what feels good on my body.

L'O: As you look back over the years, how much has your style changed? Are there any looks from the past that you&rsquo;d still wear today?&nbsp;
TB:&nbsp;I&rsquo;m a quintessential millennial, so I still can&rsquo;t believe we wore blazers to the club&mdash;thank God for a style evolution. But I do still love classic black blazers. They&rsquo;re now from Max Mara, though, and not made of polyester from Wetseal.
L'O: What&rsquo;s your favorite way to unwind after attending shows and fashion events? Are you at the parties, or are you more in the pajamas and skincare at 10 p.m. camp?&nbsp;
TB: I very rarely attend the parties. I&rsquo;m an extrovert who likes to sleep. Nothing feels better than coming back to my room, washing the day away, crawling into bed, and scrolling through all the content so that I can relive it again.
L'O: When you land back in NYC, what&rsquo;s your first stop? Are there any favorite local spots that you miss while you&rsquo;re away?
TB: When I land in NYC, I'll treat myself to a facial at the Caudalie spa in Soho, and I'll definitely get a full body massage as well, especially after flying 12 hours. I&rsquo;ll also likely get an IV drip and a Cava salad.
