Ludovic de Saint Sernin's Love Letter to Ann Demeulemeester

Ludovic de Saint Sernin has officially made his debut as creative director of the Belgian fashion house, Ann Demeulemesteer, during the Fall/Winter 2023 Paris Fashion Week, and this collection is a special one because it was born "from a feeling of intimacy and respect" towards the legacy of the founder. The quill—an element highly admired by Demeulemesteer—was a star of the show as it was used as a bra-like garment at the opening and closing of the line. Simple, classic silhouettes were also the focal point of the collection, along with dark, leather fabric. 

Sensuality and gender fluidity are two themes de Saint Sernin emphasizes in each of his collections. The hands crossed over the breasts, a reference to the Maison's Spring/Summer 1995 show, provide a sense of privacy as well as provocation. “Writing a letter is always about both the sender and the recipient. It is a meeting, an exchange. In this show, Ludovic de Saint Sernin continues to find himself in Ann, while retaining his sense of self. It is an introduction, a preamble, and as such it should be continued."
