Summer just got a lot more fabulous as Kimora Lee Simmons Leissener launches Baby Phat x Forever 21

The Godmother of Ghetto Fabulosity, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kimoraleesimmons/" target="_blank">Kimora Lee Simmons Leissener </a>has blessed us with the return of Baby Phat. This March on International Women&rsquo;s Day, Leissener announce that she had reaquirred Baby Phat and it would be returning, and after much anticipation the label returned first as a collaboration with <a href="https://www.forever21.com/us/shop/catalog/category/f21/promo-branded-baby-phat#pageno=1&amp;pageSize=120&amp;filter=price:0,250&amp;sort=3">Forever 21.</a>&nbsp;The full Baby Phat launch will come this September.

Before diversity was commonplace in fashion, Leissener was bringing women of all shades to the runway. The business once valued at a billion dollars through sales was a celebration of urban beauty that was initially shunned by high fashion. That infamous picture of <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/98938523044683773/" target="_blank">Cam&rsquo;ron</a> in the pastel pink plush headband and hoodie were Baby Phat. Attracting the likes of Aaliyah, Tyra Banks, Mary J Blige, to be frank the entire hip hop community, Baby Phat was thee label to be sporting. Phat Farms was launched by Russel Simmons in 1992 and launched Baby Phat with then wife Kimora in 1998.

Leissener was the Creative Director of Baby Phat from 2000-2010. Her role was well documented on her iconic reality show Kimora: Life In the Fab Lane where we got to watch the model and mogul balance running a fashion empire and motherhood. With fragrances with Coty and the iconic Motorola flip phone her influence was widespread and she was incredibly ahead of her time. Leissener made the idea of working in fashion as a person of color, in the realm of possibility with her show. Phat Farms was sold in 2004 to Kellwood for $140 million dollars, and in 2010 Leissener announced that she was stepping down from her position (not by choice).

In the promotional video Leissener rollerblades with her two daughters, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mingleesimmons/" target="_blank">Ming</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/aokileesimmons/">Aoiki</a> and<a href="https://www.instagram.com/the_combs_twins/" target="_blank"> the Combs Twins</a> whose mother and Leissener&rsquo;s best friend Kim Porter tragically passed away last year. The drop has everything original Baby Phat stans would want: halter&nbsp;bedazzeld crop tops, graphic sweaters, and leopard print everything. The collection comes in straight and plus sizing,&nbsp;Leissener wants to cater to all women, period.
