Bella Hadid Explains Why She Returned to Victoria's Secret
Bella Hadid had already criticized the brand for its weight and size policies.
After successive controversies involving Victoria's Secret, the brand finally put into action a plan to change its policy and improve its image in the fashion industry. Among several new ambassadors, such as Indian actress Priyanka Chopra and world football champion Megan Rapinoe, now, former Victoria's Secret Angel Bella Hadid is officially returning to the brand's team.
The supermodel had already abandoned the brand and revealed in several interviews the bad experiences she had while walking the runway as an Angel. Several allegations of misconduct towards other models, including Hadid, have been brought against Ed Razek, who has stepped down as President and Chief Marketing Officer of Victoria's Secret's parent company, L Brands. Charges include bullying, sexual harassment, and obscene comments.
Now, Hadid has revealed that she started negotiations for her comeback 18 months ago to make sure the company was actually changing its internal policies and promoting a more positive body image to women and customers around the world.
In an interview with Marie Claire, she said, “It took me almost a year and a half of meetings with them. Even having that conversation was very complicated for me because of the way I felt in the past. But they came to me with a great presentation about all that they've changed, the way they're moving forward with not just body diversity, but women's diversity in general."
