Before there was Gossip Girl, the streets of New York City were run by Sex and the City's four leading ladies: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall). Their countless attempts to find love and success in the Big Apple throughout the franchise's six seasons and two subsequent films have cemented them as four of TV's most iconic characters with the best style inspiration for everyone to follow, even decades later.

The original series, which ran from 1998 to 2004, was a beacon of both city life and '90s/early '00s fashion. Manolo Blahnik addict Carrie spends the entirety of the show's run mystifying audiences with how she manages to keep her designer-stocked closet and spacious Upper East Side apartment, all while working as a columnist for a local (fictional) newspaper, The New York Star. While the answer is best chalked up to movie magic, the true magic is the parade of ensembles these women grace the screen in. A mix of designer, vintage, and thrift store pieces by costume designer Patricia Fields, the wardrobe on SATC is a catalog of outfit inspiration that even today's biggest fashion influencers look to for guidance.

Now that the iconic and beloved series has hit Netflix, the internet has once again gone crazy over the storylines, but mostly the outfits. L'OFFICIEL has rounded up some of the best looks throughout the franchise's run.
