After a long break from the last major awards show, the best and brightest stars across the entertainment, music, and art industries gathered in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate prominent individuals who have contributed to Black culture in major ways. Although the BET Awards are typically quite buzzy, this year's edition of the iconic awards ceremony was especially lively, which comes as no surprise given the range of incredible faces present on the carpet.
From Taraji P. Henson's charismatic, humor-filled introduction as the host of the 2024 BET Awards to Tyla's electrifying performance to Will Smith's surprise debut of a brand-new song, the night was certainly one to go down in pop culture history.
After a series of stunning red carpet looks earlier this year, namely her 2024 Met Gala dress, Tyla stepped out in yet another gorgeous gown, this time, courtesy of Versace. The "Water" singer donned a slinky leather dress, complete with classic Versace studs and sultry cutouts at the bodice, that brought back glamor from the Italian luxury label's Fall/Winter 2004 season. Finishing off the look, Tyla wore strappy Flor de Maria heels, an exquisite set of Jared Atelier jewelry pieces—including pear-shaped diamond and morganite earrings, two dazzling tennis bracelets, and several standout diamond rings—and her hair pulled back in braids.
Usher had an emotional moment at the 2024 BET Awards when he received the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating a long, fantastic career full of enduring pop culture moments, mesmerizing dance numbers, and bright, catchy songs. The star arrived on the red carpet hand-in-hand with his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, who he married earlier this year, and his mother and sons. The star wore a Ralph Lauren blazer and jeans, keeping it classic, but as always, with that unique Usher twist, which was present in this look through the singer's accessories.
