It girls have ditched real bottoms en masse and are setting out in underwear or shorts similar to it, and we’re not mad about it.
Bloomer shorts are popping up on the feeds of eclectic dressers, and TikTok categorizes them in the realm of coquette style that overlaps into cottage core. Made from cotton, chiffon, or silk, these lingerie-inspired shorts often feature ruffles, billowy cuts, lacy details, and fun patterns, which give the perfect energy for this summer.
These looks feel practical yet still feminine and cute, and celebs like Sabrina Carpenter and Julia Fox have gotten in on the trend. Carpenter dusted off this historic look back in her music video “santa doesn’t know you like i do,” where she is seen wearing cute pink bloomers which her stylist paired with a cropped red cardigan and lace-trimmed socks. Fox was seen wearing her bloomers with a white mesh bralette with long hanging pink bows to complete the look.
