Bottega Veneta’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection sets out to define the everyday. Pea coats, A-line skirts, and oversized bags took to the runway this afternoon, creating an elegant and quotidian collection. Asymmetric cuts as well as the voluminous size of the clothing added intrigue to the garments. Roomy sweaters and coats, flowy floor-length skirts, and gowns with dramatic feather embellishments appeared, making Matthieu Blazy’s rendition of the “everyday” unique. From the exaggerated shapes to the unique layered styling of the ensembles, it seems Bottega Veneta set out to have the collection animate the concept of “everyday wear” rather than be for everyday use.

The runways this season have embraced loosely fitted garments, with Coach and JW Anderson being examples. However, it is unlikely that Bottega Veneta featured big silhouettes to be in line with contemporary trends, as they are known for their distinctiveness and desire to exist outside the mold. After all, Bottega Veneta was one of the first brands to go logo-less with their designs, instead opting to make their product identifiable with quiet signature motifs. This includes their iconic woven leather purses, which appeared in today’s show. With that said, the brand's latest work manages to put its spin on everyday fashion by creating practical pieces that aren’t meant to blend in but are instead made to be the star of the show.
