Chanel Spring/Summer 2025: Awaiting a New Creative Flight

The French fashion house returned to the Grand Palais in Paris for the first time since its reopening.

To the right of the River Seine, a few steps from the Champs-Élysées and in the busy 8th arrondissement, people were beginning to arrive at the Grand Palais, which is hosting a Chanel show for the first time since its closure in 2021 for renovation. A beach, a spaceship, and a cruise ship have been placed in the middle of the palace for the brand's various catwalks during past collections, and this year, it did not fail to surprise with an enormous birdcage under the glass roof of the prestigious building in the French capital.

Garments came with movement, delicate and light for spring and summer. Transparencies, soft colors, and iconic details such as ribbons and tweed reflect Coco Chanel's legacy under the gaze of the creative team, which still lacks a boss to occupy the office of the creative director. The iconic suit jacket with a skirt, chiffon capes, floral dresses, and denim also took center stage on the catwalk.

Finally, Riley Keough swung inside the cage while singing, and the models stood around him to close the show inside the giant white structure, which contrasted with the green pavilion of the Grand Palais.

It's been almost four months since Virginie Viard left as the designer in charge of the historic brand, and the fashion world is waiting to see who will close the next show and keep Chanel's timeless elegance alive.
