It's somewhat of a given that dark and clouded skies bring dark and stormy colors back into fashion. Dark colors also retain the most heat, though it's deabtable whether that rule holds true for denim.

Not to sound like your mother, but sometimes the best clothing is also the warmest. Fleece or flannel lined pants can be a lifesaver if you live in a truly frozen tundra. Looking at you, Chicago. Unfortunately, the designer brands seem to have bought into the idea that fashion is suffering, and refuse to offer a pair of these cozy jeans.
