Dior Celebrates Diverse Artists With Lady Dior Bag Collaboration

Last year, Dior launched a series of its own Lady Dior handbags redesigned by seven contemporary artists. Of course, the Lady Bag on its own is already incredibly covetable — but the limited edition, patterned, embellished, colorful versions are fashion must-haves. The collaboration was so successful last time that the brand decided to do it again, but with a more diverse cast of artists — including, appropriately, adding women artists to the mix this time.

At the fashion house's flagship New York City boutique last night, press, celebs and friends of the brand including Cleo Wade, Leigh Lezark, Aurora James, and Charlotte Groeneveld discovered the new Dior Lady Art #2 collection in person for the first time, over champagne and hors d’oeuvres. 

Dior chose Lee Bul, John Giorno, Hong Hao, Friedrich Kunath, Namsa Leuba, Betty Mariani, Jamilla Okubo, Jack Pierson, Spencer Sweeney, and David Wiseman to create super limited edition pieces for this year's collaboration. The bags ranged from Namsa Leuba colorful mink bag which took 300 hours to create, to Jamilla Okubo's Sun Ra inspired embellished bags and Lee Bul's mirror-like silver bags that sold out at this particular boutique (with the help of special clients) before they even formally launched in-store.

The bags will be available worldwide at Dior stores beginning today. This might be the most fashionable way to collect art yet.
