Maria Grazia Chiuri unites two metropolises by paring New York City-inspired prints with Parisian tailoring.&nbsp;

Dior&rsquo;s Pre-Fall 2024 collection proves that <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/dior-fall-winter-2024-pfw-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maria Grazia Chiuri</a> stays loyal to the classic and clean tailoring Dior is known and revered for. The entire collection featured black and neutral-colored garments with various city prints atop skirts and dresses. A few of the all-black ensembles featured a hint of animal print or leather, making the collection representative of a vibe that's equal parts minimalistic and eclectic&mdash;a vibe that's very on-brand for New York City. The black leather Aviator jumpsuit was especially chic as it employs a simple silhouette that's sleek, versatile, and extremely elevated. Another notable look included a windbreaker with an American flag printed atop it. The garment showcases the inspiration this collection drew from American style and culture. The fringe flapper dresses towards the end are perhaps an homage to the cosmopolitan spirit Grazia Chiuri aims to channel through these fashion-forward looks.&nbsp;
The show took place at the Brooklyn Museum, marking the second time the brand has partnered with the museum, with the first being in 2021, when the museum showcased an exhibition titled &ldquo;Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams.&rdquo; The 2021 inactive explored the fashion house's rich 70-plus-year history through a series of garments, sketches, and other artifacts that shed light on the influence New York City had on Christian Dior and his designs.&nbsp; &nbsp;
&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s a long relationship. In any case, New York, Paris, and Milan are the cities of fashion. Now there are also cities that are important but especially for my generation because we are speaking about generation, New York is the city,&rdquo; Chiuri said to <a href="https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-features/dior-maria-grazia-chiuri-new-york-paris-pre-fall-runway-show-preview-1236314133/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WWD</a>.
With this collection, Chiuri decided to explore Christian Dior's legacy and overarching goal of dressing women through the female lens. The style presented in this collection commemorates Christian Dior&rsquo;s longtime friend Marlene Dietrich. For many of the looks, Chiuri drew inspiration from Dietrich and her ultra-characteristic presence, which combines multiple aesthetics.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I love how she played and didn&rsquo;t have rules with outfits. She played between sportswear, between male and female," Chiuri said in the same interview with WWD.
