Italian luxury sneaker brand <a href="https://www.instagram.com/goldengoose/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Golden Goose</a> has made their name capitalizing on the trend. The sneakers, which retail for around $500, have become a favorite among influencers and those who follow them, and feature discolored soles, rips, and even duct tape.&nbsp;

While it's impossible to scroll through Instagram without encountering a Golden Goose sneaker or five, designers have also gotten in on the trend. Gucci now offers distressed versions of their <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/street-style-sneaker-trends-nike-air-jordan-new-balance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chunky sneakers</a>, as does the sleek Stockholm-based Acne Studios. Another brand known for repackaging the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/riot-grrrl-movement-history-punk-feminism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">punk and DIY aesthetic</a> is R13, whose collections almost exclusively feature distressed clothing and accessories.
While there is an undeniable irony to paying designer prices for sneakers that look beat-up, there is also something appealing about having your shoes distressed&nbsp;just so.
