The Versace Artistic Director will be honored with the title at next week's Fashion Awards.

Following the news that Stella McCartney and Maria Grazia Chiurri will be honored at the Fashion Awards 2017 in partnership with Swarovski, the British Fashion Council has just announced the next major recipient at next week&#39;s ceremony: Donatella Versace, who will receive the Fashion Icon Award.

It&#39;s a fitting time for Donatella to be honored with such a prestigious prize: she has undoubtably made this year, which happens to be the 20th anniversary of her brother Gianni&#39;s death, her own. She payed tribute to Prince at Versace&#39;s Spring 2017 menswear show, dressed&nbsp;Lady Gaga for the Super Bowl, and offered a stunning homage to her late brother for the brand&#39;s Spring 2018 show, sending his iconic prints down the runway on the supermodels he championed (and who have championed the house). 2018 also marks the 40th anniversary of the brand.&nbsp;

Donatella has also made a&nbsp;declaration of&nbsp;dedication toward a greener future at house Versace, bringing in an outside company, Nativa, to help establish sustainability goals and practices within the company.&nbsp;

&ldquo;I am truly honoured to be collecting the Fashion Icon Award at The Fashion Awards 2017,&quot; Donatella said in a statement. &quot;For 40 years my brother and I have done what we love and that is a legacy I am honoured to continue and uphold. We have celebrated empowerment, joy and of course glamour. We have championed a community of people who share our values and together with them have created truly iconic images in the world of fashion. I am truly humbled by how Versace has been embraced across the decades, across the world and across the generations. Thank you to the industry for your support of us, thank you to my team for their loyalty and incredibly hard work, thank you to my family and friends who have supported me more than they can know and thank you to the genius that was my brother Gianni. His incredible spirit is in everything we do and everything we stand for.&rdquo;

The Fashion Awards 2017 will take place on Monday, December 4 at the&nbsp;Royal Albert Hall in London.
