Coach returned with a younger, less polished aesthetic. The models that graced the river-side runway were skaters, thrifters, and students. They were adorned in shades of denim, graphic tees, and checked maxi skirts. Clearly, Coach has studied the Gen Z style handbook, and come up with a luxury edition for itself.

Coach's live runway was preceeded by a recorded video featuring many friends of the brand, including Rickey Thompson, Megan Thee Stallion, and Jon Batiste. They played along in campy TV advertisements, news segments, and gameshows before introducing a crew of hip teens emerging from the subway, skateboards ready to push off.

Celebrities aside, the real stars of the show were Coach's oversized capes. The structured garments came in an array of patterns, plaid and houndestooth mostly, with large, bell-shaped shoulders. Underneath their outerwear, the models wore a variety of t-shirts or went topless.

Also on display were a series of patterned mini dresses, sure to be a favorite for those who frequent cocktail bars. Denim vests and patchwork jeans captured the easy, secondhand style young fashion addicts are so fond of these days.

To close, Coach's fleet of skateboarders rode back out onto the runway, looking apropriately cool and bored. They could have been plucked from any park in Lower Manhattan. And perhaps that's the point: Coach is for the cool kids now.
