Jodie Turner-Smith's Jewelry Stolen at Cannes Film Festival
The actress reported the theft to the local police after discovering their disappearance from her hotel room.
While attending the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France to promote her film After Yang, Jodie Turner-Smith found herself at the center of a robbery. On Sunday, the actress tweeted, "didn’t think i would be spending 2.5 hours in the police station on my final day in cannes, but here we are."
Turner-Smith's publicist told Variety that the actress was at the Cannes Police Department to file a report for jewelry that was stolen from her hotel room. According to a source, the Queen & Slim actress was staying at the Marriott where, while she was attending a breakfast on Friday, thieves broke into her hotel and stole jewels worth "several tens of thousands of euros," including several more sentimental pieces like her mother's wedding ring.
A local publication Nice-Matin reported that there was no forced entry found into her room which was key card accessible and that an investigation into the missing jewelry is currently underway. Following the robbery, the actress and her one-year-old daughter were moved to the Majestic and given a security detail to accompany her to her subsequent events.
On Thursday, the night before the theft, Turner-Smith attended her film's premiere in pieces from Gucci's High Jewelry line. However, the items were returned that evening and were not in her room at the time of the robbery.
