After staging elaborate shows in Dallas, Salzburg, Rome, and Paris, Karl Lagerfeld's next destination for Chanel is a surprising one; the designer has chosen to take Chanel's Métiers d'Art show to his hometown in Hamburg, Germany. The choice of the city raises rumors that this would be the farewell of the designer, who has been in charge of the house since 1983.

In an exclusive interview with managing editor Maria Rita Alonso, the CEO of the maison denied rumors that this would be Karl's last parade, and that he will not retire so soon: "He is already finalizing the couture collection. This will certainly not be his last show," says Bruno Plavlovsky.

The chosen venue is the Eilbesimphony. The building, which opened in January this year, is one of the most expensive in Europe and this will be its first major event. The avant-garde structure is designed by the architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.

Chanel's Métiers d'Art show in Hamburg takes place next Wednesday, December 6, at 12pm EST.
