The Spanish house’s classic Woven bag is redesigned to promote Loewe's continuous sustainable efforts.

The Woven basket bag that first appeared in Jonathan Anderson&rsquo;s debut&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/loewe-show-in-the-news-fall-winter-2021-jonathan-anderson" target="_blank">Loewe</a> Spring/Summer 2015 <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/men/loewe-fall-winter-2021-menswear" target="_blank">collection</a>&nbsp;is back with a sustainable upgrade.

With the release of a series of small size Woven basket <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/bag-trends-2021-runway-instagram" target="_blank">bags</a> handcrafted from surplus leather, Loewe launches The Surplus Project, a display in how to re-use, re-think, and re-create something beautiful from the highest quality leather with the lowest impact on the environment.&nbsp;Two of&nbsp;Loewe&rsquo;s supple leathers&mdash;a smooth, classic calfskin, and a finely textured, soft grained calfskin&mdash;are braided together into narrow strips of neutral tones and bold colors to give life to mosaic-like artisanal bags and Crab charms.

The Surplus Project follows the recent Eye/Loewe/Nature collection created with&nbsp;a variety of recycled, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/sustainable-fashion-brands-that-upcycle" target="_blank">upcycled</a> and organic textiles, placing Loewe one step further in&nbsp;its journey of becoming a more <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/marcia-paris-emma-reynaud-tchiki-buom-dress" target="_blank">sustainable</a> brand.
