London Museum to Honor Azzedine Alaïa With Special Exhibition
After the sudden loss of Azzedine Alaïa last month, the Design Museum in London will host an exhibition commemorating the Franco-Tunisian designer and the 60 best moments of his career. The designer knew how to inject elegance, a certain classicism, and a dose of femininity and plurality into women's fashion during his nearly 40-year career in the industry. In the time since his passing, everyone who is anyone in fashion has poured their grief out in posts on social media. The designer was honored at the Fashion Awards 2017, where Naomi Campbell (and a crew of supermodels) paid tribute to the man she called "papa."
Azzedine Alaïa: The Couturier will open next May and run through October.
The selection was made by Alaïa himself, who planned to mount this retrospective before his death on November 18.
