The French Maison reimagines its first-ever wristwatch, introduced in 1988, in a new limited edition.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/from-louis-to-vuitton-book-assouline-lv-history-house-codes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louis Vuitton</a> reenters the watchmaking conversation with the Monterey, a timepiece that bridges the past and the present. Limited to 188 pieces, the Monterey reinterprets the Maison&rsquo;s first-ever wristwatches&mdash;the LV I and LV II&mdash;designed in 1988 by the late Italian architect Gae Aulenti. Those avant-garde models, with their pebble-shaped cases and 12 o&rsquo;clock crown, became cult favorites among collectors and tastemakers alike.
Now, nearly four decades later, the Monterey carries forward that legacy with La Fabrique du Temps <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/louis-vuitton-spring-summer-2026-runway-images-paris-fashion-week" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louis Vuitton</a>, infusing the model with modern elegance. The 39mm yellow gold case preserves the rounded silhouette of the original while introducing a Grand Feu white enamel dial, a process that requires over 20 hours of handcraft and multiple high-temperature firings to achieve its finish. The original quartz movement has been replaced with an in-house automatic caliber, complete with a 45-hour power reserve and an 18K pink gold rotor.
Artistic Director Matthieu Hegi describes the watch as &ldquo;a symbiosis between the old and present, respecting the design and spirit of the original while reinterpreting it for today." This reinterpretation of an icon honors Louis Vuitton&rsquo;s horological heritage while reaffirming its forward-looking artistry.
The Monterey stands not just as a revival but as a celebration of enduring design. It&rsquo;s undoubtedly a collector&rsquo;s piece that perfectly embodies Louis Vuitton&rsquo;s timeless blend of innovation, history, and craftsmanship.
