Fashion industry darlings Torish&eacute;ju Dumi and Steve O. Smith also took home major awards.&nbsp;

This year, Japanese designer Soshi Otsuki was awarded the LVMH prize&mdash;one of the highest honors for fashion designers across the world.&nbsp;
The 35-year-old founded his label, Soshiotsuki, ten years ago in <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/men/poggy-style-book-rizzoli-japanese-menswear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Japan</a>. Looking towards suiting styles of the past, the designer quickly found inspiration in precisely tailored looks and classical Japanese fashions&mdash;particularly in regard to the '80s bubble era that saw an explosion in popularity of masterfully crafted suits. For Otsuki, the award has been a long time coming. Back in 2016, he was shortlisted for the LVMH prize, but ultimately did not win, making his triumph this year all the more palpable.&nbsp;
What changed this time around? It was simply "craftsmanship," the designer tells L'OFFICIEL, that continues to resonate with the jury and consumers alike. Over the course of the past decade, he has continued honing his tailoring and design skills, and his mastery of the craft is apparent in recent collections, which were thoroughly well-received among the jury.&nbsp;
The LVMH prize includes a &euro;400,000 endowment and a year-long mentorship with LVMH experts. Otsuki said he was particularly inspired to be in the room with Sarah Burton, who recently became creative director at Givenchy, given her mastery of sharp, tailored looks.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, British designer Torish&eacute;ju Dumi took home the Savoir-Faire prize, earning her &euro;200,000 and a one-year LVMH mentorship.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Steve O Smith was awarded the Karl Lagerfeld prize, which similarly yields &euro;200,000 and a one-year LVMH group mentorship.&nbsp;

Otsuki, Dumi, and Smith explained that the LVMH resources would be instrumental in expanding their design and commercial capabilities, as they had been previously working with limited assistance and are now interested in building teams to work alongside.&nbsp;
As per usual, a jury presided over the competition, with creative directors including Jonathan Anderson, Sarah Burton, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/louis-vuitton-spring-summer-2025-pfw-runway-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nicolas Ghesqui&egrave;re</a>, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Nigo, Phoebe Philo, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Pharrell Williams on the panel. The designers from LVMH houses were also joined by Delphine Arnault, Jean-Paul Claverie, and Sidney Toledano&mdash;plus, special guest jury member <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/deepika-padukone-boyfriends-husband-ranveer-singh-dating-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deepika Padukone</a>, beloved Bollywood actress. Actresses Anna Sawai and Camille Cottin were also in attendance and presented the Karl Lagerfeld and Savoir-Faire prizes.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Soshiotsuki joins an esteemed list of labels that have won the LVMH prize, including <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/lvmh-prize-2024-winner-finalists-designers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hodakova</a>, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/setchu-wins-2023-lvmh-prize-satoshi-kuwata-young-designer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Setchu</a>, SS Daley, and Nensi Dojaka, among others.&nbsp;
