Marchesa Abruptly Cancels NYFW Show
Although Harvey Weinstein and wife Georgina Chapman are estranged, it's been hard for those in fashion to get the bad taste out of their mouth surrounding Marchesa. Although we don't know much about Chapman's involvement or lack thereof in Weinstein's crimes, simply the association has been enough to take a toll on the brand. Such a toll, in fact, that Marchesa just dropped out of New York Fashion Week, only a couple weeks before they were set to debut their FW18 collection.
"Marchesa is looking forward to presenting their Fall ’18 collection in an updated format this season" is what a representative from the brand told both the New York Post and PEOPLE when asked. There has been no explicit mention of why the change was so last-minute, or how the collection will be presented. But the rumor mill is buzzing, saying that Chapman was simply too scared to present. Although she publicly announced that she is leaving her husband, there are reports that Weinstein bullied actresses into wearing the brand, so maybe it is best if they just sit this round out.
