This year's theme is "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."&nbsp;
With a theme rooted in craftsmanship, structure, Black history, and the evolution of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/black-dandyism-met-gala-style">dandyism</a>, 2025 is set to be a celebration of cut, line, and form. Think custom suits, androgynous takes on tuxedos, and redefined gender norms through fashion. While the guest list isn't revealed until the night of, and last minute changes do occasionally occur, there are a few faces folks can safely expect. Rihanna, whose beau is none other than co-host A$AP Rocky, ought to be in attendance. It would also make sense for members of the host committee to attend. These names include <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/doechii">Doechii</a>, Tyla, Janelle Mon&aacute;e, Grace Wales Bonner, Dapper Dan, Spike Lee, and more.

<h2>What Is the Theme and Dress Code for the 2025 Met Gala?</h2>

The exhibition and theme, titled&nbsp;"Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," explore the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/black-dandyism-met-gala-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rich history of Black dandyism</a> and its lasting impact on fashion. Originating in the eighteenth century, the term &ldquo;dandy&rdquo; described a middle-class man who dressed with meticulous care and took great pride in his appearance, often seen socializing in stylish settings. Black <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/alexander-mcqueen-fall-winter-2025-paris-fashion-week" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dandyism</a> carries a more profound significance. Introduced during the transatlantic slave trade, it became a powerful form of self-expression and resistance. By embracing the aesthetics of European fashion, Black men used style as a means of reclaiming identity, asserting dignity, and challenging the structures that sought to dehumanize them.
To coincide with the exhibition, the dress code is "Tailored for You", inviting guests to interpret the theme of tailoring and menswear in their own unique way. This is one of the first Met Gala themes that has a main focus on menswear.
