9 Model Mom and Daughter Twinning Moments
These supermodels' daughters have followed in their footsteps—and we can see why.
Supermodels from the '70s,'80s, and '90s are now seeing their kids grow up—and many of them are following in their footsteps. With well-known examples like Kaia Gerber and the Hadid sisters, their model lineage has had a great impact on their lives. But beyond following the same career path, they've also delivered a number of cute twinning moments over the years, showing just how much they want to be like their mamas. From matching outfits to throwback photos, see the uncanny resemblances between these favorite model mom-daughter duos this Mother's Day.
Kate Moss and Lila Grace Moss
One of supermodel Kate Moss' best looks from the '90s was a silvery, sheer dress that she wore to an Elite Model Agency party in 1993. She was only 19 years old at the time. The Liza Bruce slip dress was a foreshadowing of the silhouette that would become one of her fashion signatures. And it seems her daughter, model Lila Grace Moss, has taken favor with the style, too. For an event in 2020, Lila Grace donned a similarly sheer dress, giving it a grunge look with a leather jacket and combat boots.
Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber
Copying her mom's 1992 Versace bondage dress moment at the MTV VMAs, Kaia Gerber opted to wear a nearly identical bustier for her 18th birthday party. Cindy Crawford also wore a version of it on Gianni Versace's Fall/Winter 1992 runway.
Pat Cleveland and Anna Cleveland
Anna Cleveland is a ground-breaking supermodel who got her start in the 1960s and '70s. Paving the way for Black representation on the catwalks, Cleveland walked Saint Laurent, Valentino, and more, but is perhaps best-known for becoming a Halstonette. Her dramatic presence on the runway also lended itself to the theatrics of designer Thierry Mugler. She descended at his Fall/Winter 1984 show suspended from the ceiling, dress like the Madonna. Her daughter, Anna, has also become a high fashion model with the same flair for grand gestures on the runway. For Jeremy Scott's Fall/Winter 2016 show, she vogued down the runway in a literally smoking dress.
Vanessa Paradis and Lily-Rose Depp
French actress, singer, and model Vanessa Paradis reached It girl status in the early '90s. Her daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, is also a fashion darling, as a muse to the late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld and a budding actress herself. Showing that French style is truly timeless, Depp took a page out of her mother's style book, nodding to Paradis' 2005 Met Gala look in her own Chanel black and white skirt and top at a movie premiere.
Heidi Klum and Leni Klum
German model and Project Runway host Heidi Klum is known for her blonde locks and supermodel features, which she has clearly passed down to her 16-year-old daughter, Leni, who is just beginning her modeling journey. In a makeup-free selfie of the mother-daughter duo, their resemblance is apparent.
Yolanda Hadid and Gigi and Bella Hadid
The supermodel genes are strong in the Hadid family. With sisters Bella and Gigi following in their mom Yolanda's footsteps, they are one of fashion's favorite families. While they share plenty of other things in common, too—like their love of horses—they've definitely caught onto a few shared styling tricks, too. Monochrome dressing seems to be a favorite, with all three women rocking vibrant orange ensembles, each with their own personal spin.
Christie Brinkley and Sailor Brinkley
Christie Brinkley became a successful model in the 1970s, and was especially known for fronting the Sports Illustrated swim issue three consecutive times. It seems that her daughter, IMG-signed model Sailor Brinkley Cook, takes after her mom, as she often posts her own swim photos on Instagram. Beyond that, the pair have even shared photos of themselves deliberately matching in denim overalls.
Kristen McMenamy and Lily McMenamy
Popular in the '90s for her unconventional, androgynous look, Kristen McMenamy wasn't afraid of extreme beauty transformations—and either is her daughter. A then-18-year-old Lily McMenamy caused a stir when she walked the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013 runway in nothing but a pair of hot pants and opera gloves. The daring look, completed with dyed black hair styled in a choppy cut, resembles one that her mom wore on the Karl Lagerfeld Fall/Winter 1992 show.
Kimora Lee Simmons and Ming Lee and Aoki Lee Simmons
In addition to helping their mom revive the Baby Phat fashion empire, Kimora Lee Simmons' daughters, Ming Lee and Aoki Lee, are also following her modeling path. Kimora Lee has kept her daughters close throughout her career, bringing them onto her catwalks at fashion week and enlisting them to bring a Gen Z spirit to her Y2K-favorite brand. The two sisters have had plenty of mommy matching moments over the years, most notably as little kids on their mom's fashion week runways.
