Naomi Campbell Reveals She Traded Her Love Life for Her Career
The supermodel has remained at the top of fashion for over three decades.
Have you ever thought about the things we sacrifice for the sake of our careers? The search for a delicate balance between personal and professional life does not always bring the desired result. Naomi Campbell has over 35 years of excellent work in the fashion industry, but recently, she revealed how difficult this journey has been.
In an interview with The Cut, the 51-year-old model was quite honest in admitting that she always prioritized her career over her love life. "I’d say the sacrifice is really finding that soul mate who will understand you. It’s really like you feel if they look at you as if you’re strong … you know, I’m strong, but I’m also sensitive. I know that in relationships I have to compromise."
Over the years, Naomi has gained a reputation for being difficult to deal with because of her temper. The model also reflected on her own past and personal growth when she said: "I don’t have a problem looking at myself in the mirror anymore and facing and owning who I am. And for sure when I was younger, I wasn’t always using it in the right way. It takes growth." These days, being surrounded by "loved ones" is a priority for her.
She added, "I’m not out here on my own. It’s simple, and it’s small. To be with your loved ones who just want to enjoy the quality time. I want my friends to flourish. You want to protect those you love. And most importantly, when I reach out to people, and I need help and understanding and guidance, it’s important for me to remember to say ‘Thank you.’ You never know when you may need that person to help you again or guide you."
In May 2021, the supermodel took the world by surprise when she used her social networks to deliver wonderful news: the birth of her first child. Naomi at the time made the following statement: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her [mother. So honored] to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love."
