Years after Alexander McQueen's tenure as the creative director of Givenchy, one of the designer's favorite muses, Naomi Campbell, paid homage to his legacy by wearing the Union Jack Dress at the inaugural British Museum Ball.&nbsp;

Each is part of the fabric of today&rsquo;s fashion world, be it barrier breakers or culture makers.&nbsp;
Naomi Campbell has cemented herself as one of the most iconic models in fashion history, no doubt about it. From Vivienne Westwood to Chlo&eacute;, Campbell has modeled for a plethora of legendary designers and labels, and her look for the inaugural British Museum Ball was no exception. For the event, Campbell wore the iconic Union Jack Dress, designed by Alexander McQueen for Givenchy's Fall/Winter 2000 couture collection.
The gown is aptly designed in lace fabric with the colors of the British flag, features an asymmetrical neckline, a fitted bodice, and a long, dramatic train. Campbell paired with the look with pin-straight hair, dark blue eye makeup, and minimal diamond jewelry.&nbsp;
The piece debuted during Paris Fashion Week in July 2000 for Givenchy's fall couture show of that year as creative director of the label. McQueen's tendency towards metallics and skin-tight silhouettes have a stark contrast to the refined style that had become characteristic of the house and its founder, Hubert de Givenchy. It was McQueen's second to last couture offering for the house for which he designed for from 1996 to 2001.&nbsp;

Campbell's choice of dress is fitting not only for the event, but considering her place as one of the late designer's favorite muses. The model has walked for McQueen several times for Givenchy and his eponymous brand in the late 1990s and early 2000s. As recently as 2023, Campbell closed the final show of McQueen's right hand and successor, Sarah Burton.&nbsp;
Since McQueen's passing in 2010, Campbell has gravitated towards McQueen in more ways than one. She's worn a fair share of McQueen era Givenchy and McQueen on the red carpet, and in 2024 she included some of the designer's rarest pieces in a collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum titled Naomi: In Fashion.&nbsp;After what were likely long years in storage, seeing Campbell bring this legendary dress back at the British Museum Ball red carpet was worth the wait.&nbsp;
