Olivia Rodrigo Subtly Wore This Y2K Trend on the Red Carpet
The pop darling kept it sleek and simple at the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Since rising to mainstream music fame in 2021 and only continuing to climb the ladder after releasing her latest album Guts earlier this year, Olivia Rodrigo is someone on everyone's radar of late. This is true not only for music lovers but fashion enthusiasts alike. She's become a fashion star on the red carpet, as proven by her most recent red carpet appearance.
At the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Olivia Rodrigo endorsed the classic little black dress in a sleek Valentino mini-dress. The halter-style dress subtly featured a Y2K-inspired rosette — one of this year's biggest comeback trends as spotted on the runways and red carpet.
The dress was minimally accessorized, paired with black platform heels. For beauty, she opted for a bold red lip and black vamp nails.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony — which honors musicians and artists who have significantly contributed to rock and other genres — had other notable attendees including H.E.R., Elton John, Jazmine Sullivan, Miguel, Carrie Underwood, and many more.
Shortly after walking the red carpet upon her arrival, Rodrigo had a quick change into a basic black tank top and brown textured velvet pants, to kick off the night with a performance alongside Sheryl Crow.
The 2023 class of inductees were Sheryl Crow, Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, George Michael, Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, and The Spinners. DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray were recognized for their musical influence, while Don Cornelius received the Ahmet Ertegun Award. Chaka Khan, Al Cooper, and Bernie Taupin were honored for their musical excellence.
Last year, Rodrigo also made an appearance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, where she took more of a grunge approach to her look.
She wore a dark gray mini dress by Shushu Tong, featuring a pleated mini skirt and fitted top with side cutouts. The dress was accessorized with chunky platform Mary Janes (also by Shushu Tong), sheer black garter socks, a pendant-adorned black choker, and dainty silver earrings.
The "Vampire" star took to Instagram gushing about the night, writing: "feeling insanelyyyyyy lucky and honored to have helped induct the magnificent Carly Simon into the rock n roll hall of fame last night. being in a room with some of the greatest songwriters of all time was something I’ll never ever forget. congrats Carly ily!!!! 🖤🖤🖤 @rockhall."
