Prior to his new role at Alaïa, Pieter Mulier held title positions at Christian Dior and Calvin Klein.

Over three years after the death of legendary fashion designer Azzedine Ala&iuml;a, the designer&#39;s namesake fashion brand has announced Pieter Mulier as the new Creative Director. For years, the designer worked alongside Raf Simons as his second-in-command, serving as Christian Dior&#39;s Design Director and Calvin Klein&#39;s Global Creative Director. Now, Mulier, venturing&nbsp;out on his own, will debut his first collection with Ala&iuml;a during the Spring/Summer 2022 season.

&ldquo;It is my great pleasure to welcome Pieter into the Ala&iuml;a Maison,&quot; said CEO Myriam Serrano. &quot;Through the creative prodigy and tenacious dedication of our dear founder Azzedine Ala&iuml;a, our Maison has been defined by a powerful vision of femininity and sensuality, which will forever set us apart. [...] His appointment marks the opening of an important new chapter for our Maison as we jointly seek to carry the foundational values and distinctive style of Ala&iuml;a into the future.&quot;

Like Mulier, Ala&iuml;a also honed his craft at Maison Dior. In 1980, he showcase his first collection under his own name, earning him&nbsp;Best Designer of the Year and Best Collection of the Year by the French Ministry of culture. Known for his tight-fitting, seductive garments, Ala&iuml;a&nbsp;has been credited with the popularization of&nbsp;the bodycon dress.
