After Christopher Bailey’s swansong runway show for Burberry at London Fashion Week, the question on everybody’s mind was: who will succeed the designer who had been at the helm of the British brand for 17 years?

The wait is now over. Through an announcement on its Instagram page, Burberry has named Riccardo Tisci as its new Chief Creative Officer. Effective from March 12, Tisci will direct all Burberry collections and will show his first collection for the brand in September.

This isn’t Tisci’s first stint at a major luxury fashion house. He was previously Creative Director at Givenchy for over a decade from 2005 to 2017. There, the Italian designer headed the brand's women’s wear, men’s wear and accessories collections — making him the perfect fit for Burberry.

The man himself couldn’t be any happier. He says, “I am honoured and delighted to be joining Burberry as its new Chief Creative Officer and reuniting with Marco Gobbetti. I have an enormous respect for Burberry's British heritage and global appeal and I am excited about the potential of this exceptional brand."
