The Kooples Gives Up Fur, Designs Bag With PETA

Another brand joins the cruelty-free movement.

Since Gucci went fur-free, there has been added pressure on fashion brands to stop using fur. This is largely due to how unethical it is to obtain fur, particularly in the quantities and varieties necessary for luxury brands. The Kooples is the latest brand to choose the cruelty-free stance, even collaborating with PETA on an exclusive clutch. The clutch is made of faux pony hair and vegan leather, covered in a leopard print.

This is, according to a press statement, "a wake-up call to help fashion become a more sustainable and ethical industry, as well as a more innovative sector by looking for qualitative alternatives to real fur," which makes sense given that the clutch takes vegan approaches to three different animal-based textiles. It will soon be available in all The Kooples stores online, wih all proceeds from sales going directly to PETA. A photo of the bag is below.
