For the six years he has been the sole creative director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli has challenged the label’s classic roots through bold ideas and redefining what haute couture can look like. His vision for the Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture collection was no exception. Titled “Le Club Couture,” Valentino’s collection was loud, bright, and sexy—all while still being completely stunning.

It was as playful as it was intentional, with clear design and styling choices made to assure that Piccioli’s vision came through. A sequin thong over neon green tights; knee-high feather boots; oversized ruffle collars; scandalous cutouts; sheer fabrics over freed nipples. The amusing elements incorporated throughout the collection didn’t take away from the awe-inspired craftsmanship ever-present. Voluminous silhouettes, beautifully draped coats, feathered garments, and fitted dresses are just a few examples of the high levels of execution that appeared on the runway.

Also present in the show? Valentino’s signature PP Pink. But this time, instead of appearing as full monochromatic looks as it has in the past (with a couple of exceptions), it was predominantly used as a pop of color through various accessories. Look no further than the fur coat with a bright pink bow or the gold high-slit dress with bright pink heels.

Of course, the show didn’t fail to bring in quite the lineup of star-studded guests including Anne Hathaway, Ashley Park, Doja Cat, Sam Smith, Rosie Huntington-WhiteleyDove Cameron, Law Roach, Suga, Charli XCX, and Sofia Carson.
