The Campiest Looks From the 2024 VMAs Red Carpet
From Taylor Swift to Chappell Roan, check out the boldest looks from the 2024 VMAs.
The VMAs red carpet is always a platform for bold, out-of-the-box fashion experimentation, and this year was no exception.
Some of the boldest looks came from pop icons like Taylor Swift, who tried out a daring ensemble from Christian Dior’s Resort 2025 collection. A departure from her typically softer red carpet style, the outfit sparked speculation among fans that it hinted at a forthcoming Reputation (Taylor’s Version)—but no such luck for the Swifties. Swift completed the edgy look with black leather lace-up gloves and sleek thigh-high leather boots.
Other standouts of the night came from rising pop star and ex-TikToker, Addison Rae, who stepped out in custom Miss Claire Sullivan. With a feather-adorned white bra paired with matching panties, topped off with a voluminous tulle skirt embellished with even more feathers, Rae shared that she was inspired by Madonna when deciding her look for the night. Just like Madonna often was, Rae was the talk of the night on the red carpet.
As the night progressed, a surprising theme emerged, blending gothic Renaissance elements with subtle religious undertones. One standout accessory from the red carpet? Veils. Spotted on stars like Camila Cabello, K-pop sensation Lisa, influencer Jazzelle Zanaughtti, and Brazilian singer Anitta, each of their looks exuded a regal, ethereal quality.
Chappell Roan fully embraced this Gothic Renaissance aesthetic, channeling Joan of Arc with two looks in one night. She first appeared on the carpet in Y/Project’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, accessorized with armor-inspired details, a large cross necklace, and an even larger sword. Roan then switched into a Rabanne Spring/Summer 2024 look that radiated medieval flair. Should we anticipate seeing more of these religious-inspired looks in the next year?
