Held in Geneva, Switzerland—motherland of some of the most renowned watchmakers in the world—Watches & Wonders is a celebration of craftsmanship, novelty, and excellence. Throughout a week, business professionals and watch enthusiasts enjoy an unparalleled spectacle of horology as brands unveil their latest creations—including some of the most expensive watches in the world. From the latest technical complications to the most striking gem-embellishments, this annual showcase is a testament to the enduring allure of fine watchmaking.

The 2024 edition of Watches & Wonders witnessed groundbreaking launches that broke decades-old world records and set new standards in the watch industry. From Vacheron Constantin beating its own record for the most complicated timepiece in history to Bulgari presenting the thinnest mechanical watch in the world (thinner than a blade of grass) brands really did wonders for this year’s spectacle. Featuring 54 exhibitors, attendees also enjoyed some more whimsical novelties such as the first-ever fragranced watch or a playful timepiece featuring a marionette of Coco Chanel.

From staple names in the watchmaking industry like Omega and Hublot to fashion-forward houses like Hermès and Chanel and jewelry icons such as Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels, Watches & Wonders presents the widest array of timepieces to suit every occasion, taste, and budget. As watch enthusiasts already look forward to the showcase’s next edition, L'OFFICIEL rounded up the most relevant trends and most expensive watches at Watches & Wonders 2024.

Shades of Blue

In rich navy hues or soft tones of baby blue, numerous timepieces presented in the latest edition of Watches & Wonders embraced blue shades.  Adorning leather straps, intricate cases, delicate dials, or all of the above, the blue trend is dominating the watchmaking industry this year. Mostly complemented with delicate silver hardware, these blue designs were paired with leather, rubber, and metal straps. Offering a fresh alternative to timeless black watches, the most expensive blue-hue watches are great for an evening out while more everyday watches can complement a blue or grey suit to elevate any the look.

Black & Gold

With black often linked to strength, professionalism, and quiet confidence, and gold embodying triumph, power, and fortune, black and gold timepieces have been a staple in watchmaking for decades. This year, some of the most exciting brands in watchmaking such as Omega, Hublot, and Montblanc presented intricate styles ruled by this two-toned combination. Elevating any casual look or adding contemporary style to any elegant ensemble, black and gold are a must-have accessory in 2024.

Bold Colorways

Although harder to pair with everyday looks and definitely not as timeless as the traditional colorways and metals, unique shades are taking over timepieces for the upcoming year. From Hublot's striking shade of orange to Vacheron Constantin gentle lilac shade, these uncommon designs bring a pop of color to your wrist, perfect for making a striking first impression and sparking conversations.

Green Accents

Although green shades have been trending for a while throughout the watchmaking industry, Watches & Wonders 2024 confirmed that this adored trend is not going anywhere. From Tudor to Montblanc, watchmakers paired their gold and silver shells with delicate green dials. In deep emerald hues or gentle olive tones, these green accents exude subtle elegance and contemporary sophistication.
