Rihanna Explains Why She Isn't Buying 'Maternity Clothes'
Rihanna is sharing details about her first pregnancy and says she won't buy "maternity clothes."
As she awaits the arrival of her first child with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, Rihanna has continued her history of creative and glamorous fashion moments while also showing off her baby bump. However, the singer shared in a recent interview that she has made a point of not buying clothes specifically for pregnant women. She explained to Bustle, "It's been me personally saying, I'm not going to buy maternity clothes. I'm not gonna buy maternity pants, jeans, dresses, or [do] whatever society told me to do before."
Instead, Rihanna has opted for more sensual pieces, combined with powerful high heels. When asked how she would define her style in the current phase, she said, "Maybe... rebellious? I challenged myself to go further and really have fun." Furthermore, Riri said that her goal is to end the stereotype that a pregnant woman cannot be sexy.
In the final stretch of pregnancy, the singer said that she is very excited to meet the baby, but is looking to live one day at a time, in order to enjoy all the changes. "I'm trying not to overthink it. I'm trying to embrace the journey as it comes, because there's so much unknown. And if I get excited about it now, I'll be very anxious and overwhelmed."
She also says that her skin is very different now, requiring an extra dose of hydration from her Fenty Skin line. "I protect my skin a lot from the sun and the environment. Instant Reset, my night cream, is great, especially when I'm having super dry days. It helped me revive my skin. Also, Butter Drop—I can't say how much, because it's the honest truth of God... I go crazy, I pass so many bottles of it."
