Emma Stone Stars as Cruella de Vil in Trailer for Upcoming Disney Movie
Disney has finally released the poster for the new Emma Stone film, Cruella. One of the most anticipated films of 2021, Cruella is scheduled to arrive in theaters in May 2021. The film tells the story Cruella de Vil, a character who originated from the Dodie Smith novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians, which inspired the 1961 animated Disney film One Hundred and One Dalmations. After her award-winning performances in La La Land and The Favourite, Stone is switching gears to take on a more nefarious role. The Cast
In addition to Cruella's poster and trailer, the cast has also been announced. Accompanying Emma Stone as Cruella, Emma Thompson plays the Baroness, Cruella's antagonist, alongisde Mark Strong as the Baron. Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry have been cast as Horace and Jasper, Cruella's dog-napping sidekicks. Emily Beecham and Kirby Howell-Baptiste will play Anita and Tabitha, though not much has been released about their characters. Glenn Close, who originally played the dog-hating villain in the 1996 film 101 Dalmatians, is listed as executive producer on the project.
The Plot
The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie, the director I, Tonya, with a script by Kelly Marcel (writer of successful films such as Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey), Tony McNamara, and Steve Zissis. Cruella will take place in London in the 1970s as a kind of prequel to the 1996 film. The story chronicles the life of stylist Cruella de Vil, the villainous protagonist obsessed with fur coats from Dalmatian dogs.
