British LGBTQ+ rom-com <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/sebastian-croft-heartstopper-season-2-lgbtq-tv-show-netflix" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Heartstopper</a> captured the hearts of millions of viewers worldwide after it first premiered in April 2022. The adorable coming-of-age show is based on a book series that follows two high school boys that go from friends to lovers. It's the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/cara-delevingne-sexuality-talks-growing-up-queer-pansexual" target="_blank" rel="noopener">queer</a> love story we have all been waiting for, and it most certainly did not disappoint. After binging the series in a day, viewers were already asking when they can expect a second season. After Netflix confirmed that a Season 2 is in the works, here's everything we know so far about the upcoming season of Heartstopper.

While <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/jennifer-lopez-netflix-documentary-halftime-tribeca-film-festival-premiere" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Netflix</a> has confirmed that there will be a Season 2, no release date has been announced. Filming began back in September and recently wrapped up in December 2022. With the number of months needed to complete editing, we can estimate that the second season won't come out any earlier than early to mid-2023. Some good news to keep in mind though is that Heartstopper has already been renewed for a Season 3, meaning this love story for the ages isn't ending anytime soon.&nbsp;

It has been confirmed that everybody in the main cast is set to return for Season 2. This includes Kit Connor and Joe Locke, who play the two main characters, Nick and Charlie, respectively. Other main actors returning are Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Tobie Donovan, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/sebastian-croft-heartstopper-season-2-lgbtq-tv-show-netflix" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sebastian Croft</a>, Rhea Norwood, Olivia Colman, and Jenny Walser.&nbsp;
There has also been confirmation of some new additions to the cast lineup including Thibault de Montalemberts playing Nick's father, Stephane, Jack Barton as Nick's older brother, David, Nima Taleghani as the new schoolteacher Mr. Farouk, and Leila Khan as a new student named Sahar.

As we await for production to end and a trailer to drop, we have yet to know for sure what the plotline of Season 2 will be. It will likely pick up where the last season left off in which Nick came out to his mother as bisexual and announced that he was dating Charlie. The season ended on a high note with Charlie and Nick more or less solidifying their relationship. Hopefully, in Season 2, viewers will get to see the couple continue to thrive, though it wouldn't be a TV show without some drama along the way.&nbsp;
In an <a href="https://ew.com/tv/heartstopper-stars-joe-locke-kit-connor-interview/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview with Entertainment Weekly</a>, Locke reveals what hopes to see in the second season. "I think it's quite easy to look ahead at a second season because of volume three and four of the novels. Charlie develops an eating disorder and his mental health takes a turn for the worse and I think that would be interesting to look into, especially if the show continues to be very much a teen show," Locke told Entertainment Weekly. "Whenever people tackle mental health on TV, it tends to be really dark and I think what our show has really done well so far is tackling issues, but from an optimistic lens. You can always see the light at the end of the tunnel, you always know it's going to get better. I think it'd be really great to look at that more."
Beyond Nick and Charlie, viewers may get to see the development of other couples in the storyline including the relationship between Tara and Darcy, and the hinted romantic tension between Tao and Elle.&nbsp;
