Why Kendall Jenner's Boyfriends Never Appeared on 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'
A former Keeping Up with the Kardashians executive producer revealed why viewers never saw the model's boyfriends on screen.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians is known for being an in-depth look at the lives and relationships of the KarJen family, but Kendall Jenner's personal life has always been noticeably absent from the series. While she has regularly appeared throughout the show's run, unlike her siblings, her romantic relationships have never been a major part of her storyline—a point that she requested early on.
In a recent episode of the Bravo podcast The Daily Dish, KUWTK executive producer Farnaz Farjam explained that Jenner had a firm "rule" about not having her boyfriends on camera.
"Kendall's always had this rule. She felt like she had to be with someone for at least a year before she let them be a part of the show because she doesn't always know what people's intentions are," said Farjam. "So that's why we kind of kept her personal life out of it, just because she had a rule."
Both Kendall and her sister Kylie were just middle schoolers when the show premiered in 2007. Throughout the show's 20 seasons, fans have seen the duo taking on their awkward teen years as well as their eventual superstar fame. However, the sisters have openly spoken out about the challenges of growing up on TV. In recent years, the series has chronicled Kylie's journey into motherhood, which has made her a larger part of the show's architecture.
"I feel like Kylie became more participatory this last season towards the end, and Kendall has dipped in and out," Farjam continued. "But they were at an age ... like, if you think about when you're a young adult coming into adulthood, I think you sometimes care a lot more what the outside world has to say about you."
Last week, the family said goodbye to the reality series for the KUWTK series finale. The two-part reunion show begins this Thursday.
