"Waffles + Mochi" is much more than a kid's show.

Former first lady <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/michelle-obama-fashion-independent-american-designers" target="_blank">Michelle Obama</a> announces&nbsp;that she&rsquo;s launching a new children&rsquo;s cooking show with <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/biggest-tv-shows-streaming-netflix-2020-emily-in-paris-the-undoing" target="_blank">Netflix</a>, titled Waffles + Mochi. Set in a grocery store (with Obama herself as a store clerk), Waffles and Mochi are budding chef puppets&nbsp;who embark on cooking adventures,&nbsp;explore new ingredients, and try out new recipes to&nbsp;create all around good food. It brings laughs to kids&nbsp;while teaching adult-approved recipes.

Since her time in The White House, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/best-celebrity-podcasts-2021" target="_blank">Obama</a> has always been driven to transform the way American kids think about health and nutrition, and the federal food programs available for them. Back in 2010, she initiated the <a href="https://letsmove.obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/about" target="_blank">&ldquo;Let&rsquo;s Move!&rdquo;</a> campaign to educate parents and children on the importance of healthy food and physical well-being, as well as implementing healthier foods in schools.

&ldquo;In many ways, this show is an extension of my work to support children&rsquo;s health as First Lady,&rdquo; Obama shared&nbsp;with her fans on her <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CLEvMnaL_B7/" target="_blank">Instagram</a>.&nbsp;&ldquo;And to be quite honest, I wish a program like this had been around when my girls were young.&rdquo;

The show isn&rsquo;t just about making good food&ndash;it also comes with a good purpose. Obama recognizes how difficult the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/politics-culture/books-to-read-pandemic" target="_blank">pandemic</a> has been for so many families, and for that reason, Waffles + Mochi is partering with the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/phanews/" target="_blank">Partnership for a Healthier America</a> to deliver fresh ingredients to families across the country to cook at home.

Waffles + Mochi premieres on Neflix on March 16.
